Kennersley Park - Cottages
Our retirement complex is for persons of 60 years and older who are still fairly fit, and do not require full time nursing care. We do have a Sister on duty from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday, to assist residents in cases of temporary illness.
There are one and two bedroom cottages and bachelor flats which are for purchase only under the Life Occupation Rights scheme.
In terms of this scheme, if a purchaser wishes to leave or dies within 5 years of purchase, a percentage of the current resale value ranging from 90% (1st year), 80% (2nd year) and so on down to 50% at 5 years and thereafter will be paid to the purchaser or the estate after deduction of costs of renovation for resale. Note: this is however not applicable to applicants of endowed cottages.
Prices for existing units presently range from approximately ± R 210,000.00 for the smallest flatlet, to ± R 510,000.00 for a one-bedroom cottage, and to ± R 685,000.00, for a two-bedroom cottage (with or without a garage).
A once off deposit of R 1,000.00 is required to secure your place on the waiting list. This fee is fully refundable should the applicant wish to withdraw from the list at any time. Should the applicant be successful in obtaining Life Occupation Rights then the R 1,000.00 will be deducted from the purchase price of the cottage. Please note this fee will not earn interest.
A monthly levy is charged to cover water, refuse removal, insurance of the building, maintenance of the unit and adjoining grounds. This charge is subject to annual revision. Electricity is provided on the card meter system.
